BASKET WEAVING
Upcoming Workshops

Embark on a creative journey learning the timeless craft of basket weaving.  It is a space to lean back into ancestral ways of being, and being together, that have been alive in our human history longer than they have been dormant.  We will deliver an enriching, hands-on experience at our Mt Eliza location, or alternatively in the comfort of your own home.

HIGHLIGHTS

Workshops are perfect for beginners and those with some prior experience in basket making.  Beginner workshops work with raffia and you will learn and use blanket stitch to craft your own small trinket basket.  Intermediate workshops work with locally foraged fibres and you will also learn traditional ecological knowledge of harvesting and drying fibres.

WHAT TO EXPECT

In addition to plenty of laughs, explore the fascinating world of basketry, the art of responsible harvesting and drying of plant fibres. We'll also showcase an array of basket styles, including raffia, plant-based materials, and recycled textiles for your inspiration.  As we weave our baskets, they begin to fill. They fill with the stories, places and dear ones surrounding us and the quality of our presence as we weave. It is all woven in.
